Bus workshop installs Modulfix vinyl tiles

The CFTU bus company in Martinique (French Antilles) chose our Modulfix tiles in the renovation of the floor of its 1000sqm workshop.

Why did they chose our Modulfix industrial tiles?

The maintenance of their 100 vehicles fleet is constant and they were looking for a new floor that would prevent them from stopping their activity.

Apart from Modulfix PVC tiles, the alternatives they had were terrazzo or continuous floors (type epoxy resins or painted concrete for example).

These floors require a long application time compared to Modulfix PVC tiles and must be installed by trained personnel.

On the contrary, Modulfix tiles are very quick to install and in many cases can be installed by the same customer at their own pace. The CFTU workshop was set up in 3 days by zones, so they could continue working at all times.

Many workshops complain about other aspects of the floorings mentioned above (terrazzo and continuous floors).

Terrazzo tiles are usually broken by falling tools or by the ground movements themselves.

Continuous pavements are usually cracked or broken due to dilatations, greases or humidity, apart from being contaminating.

Modulfix tiles do not break (they have very high Shore hardnesses but at the same time they are flexible) and are little affected by the liquids of a workshop (brake fluids, battery acids, …).

In addition, thanks to their flexibility, they help to cushion the fall of objects to the ground, avoiding the breakage of the tools manipulated by the mechanic.

The resins do have positive aspects, especially at first, a clean and continuous finish of the floor. However, it should be noted that once installed, the Modulfix PVC tiles give this same feeling since the joints are barely visible as seen in the CFTU workshop photo below.

In order to personalize the workshop, they used our Moduprint printing system to put signs on the ground.

What range of Modulfix flooring should I install on the floor of my Industrial Vehicle workshop?

We recommend 3 ranges for heavy vehicle workshops. The ranges in 7mm thickness are the Modulfix X7 Solid and the Modufix X7 Heavy, or the Modulfix X9 Extreme 9mm tile. The X7 Solid must be glued while the other two, made of extra-hard PVC, can be left loose-laid (except for direct sun exposure as the entrances). Mechanics find the ground pleasant to step on as the legs are less loaded and the floor is not as cold in winter compared to an epoxy resin or a terrazzo.

To divide the passage and work areas, they used two colors (Light Gray 7045 and Dark Gray 7015). In this workshop, the installed range was the X7 Heavy made of extra-hard PVC.

Cleaning my Modulfix industrial vinyl tiles.

We recommend maintaining Modulfix floors with a machine, a degreaser suitable for PVC floors and a brush that is not too abrasive. It is necessary to sweep the dirt accumulated on the floor first. Like other floors, when an aggressive liquid (gasoline, acids) falls onto it, it is recommended to clean it as soon as possible as prolonged contact could leave stains.
