Why is Modulfix the ideal floor in a loft or mezzanine?

Finding clean, resilient flooring for a loft can be tricky.

The main problem is the lack of alternatives, since normally, in industrial sites, only continuous floors (such as epoxy resins or painted concrete) or terrazzo are valued.

Both types of flooring (terrazzo or resin) are not an option on a mezzanine floor because the subfloors are usually made of sheet metal or wood agglomerate. However, Modulfix tiles can be installed on top of any surface with a certain planimetry. In many cases they can be installed by the customer himself at his own pace. Our teams can lay 500 to 600m2 in a weekend.

The new floor can be installed without stopping the company’s activity!

The installation of Modulfix industrial tile requires little preparation of the substrate. However, the installation of a resin would be very complicated on a mezzanine. Modulfix is a floor suitable for the transit of all types of industrial vehicles (forklifts, stackers, pallet trucks).

An industrialist mounts a mezzanine in his facilities when he needs to gain meters without touching the building. Another advantage of these structures is that they can be dismantled and the Modulfix tile can be adapted again. The day the mezzanine is dismantled, the tiles can also be dismantled and reused elsewhere.

They are a long-term investment!

Abrasion resistance (Shore hardness 95 to 100) is superior to that of chipboard, and users who had a metal surface appreciate the acoustic insulation provided by the tiles. Once laid, Modulfix tiles give a feeling of homogeneity and continuity because the joints are almost invisible. At 9kg/m2, it is a relatively light floor, an important aspect in a high-rise structure.

Another aspect to be taken into account in a warehouse or hall is safety, and once again Modulfix tiles meet the highest criteria. First of all, they have an R10 slip resistance (according to DIN 51130). In addition, their wide range of colors makes it possible to distinguish zones. Finally, thanks to our Moduprint technology, it is possible to print any safety pictogram. Being made of plastic, Modulfix tiles are not affected by humidity and do not rust like metal surfaces.

What type of Modulfix tiles should I install on my loft floor?

The main criteria to be taken into account are the weights handled, the type of vehicles running on the mezzanine (electric or manual system) and the type of wheels (hard or pneumatic).

We have 4 ranges for the industry: Modulfix X9 Extreme (9mm, extra-hard PVC), Modulfix X7 Heavy (7mm, extra-hard PVC), Modulfix X7 Solid (7mm) and Modulfix X7 Metal (7mm).

If the traffic is pedestrian or with weights of less than 500kg, the X5 Classic and X5 Metal 5mm ranges can be installed.

Cleaning Modulfix tiles on a mezzanine floor.

We recommend the maintenance of Modulfix tiles with a machine, neutral detergent and a non-abrasive brush. It is advisable to first remove the dust accumulated on the floor with a vacuum cleaner or broom. In small spaces, cleaning can be carried out manually with a mop.

The user’s feeling regarding cleanliness with Modulfix tiles is an improvement after installation, especially compared to agglomerate which is much more porous and abrasive.
