Vinyl or PVC flooring is an economical, versatile and durable option for the home, store or office. There are an infinite number of designs such as wood, stone, hydraulic tiles, or plain colors to choose from to achieve the special ambiance you are looking for.
Below we will explain how to install a roll vinyl floor in a simple and fast way and get a perfect finish.
Prepare the support
The substrate on which the vinyl floor covering is to be laid must be dry, smooth, level and free of cracks. It must also be free of dust, grease, oil or chemicals.
Apply a primer to facilitate adhesive bonding.
Then apply a leveling paste to help the floor have an even surface and the coating will have a better finish.
Preparing the pavement
For 2 meter wide rolls, Supreme Floors recommends cutting 24 hours prior to laying. Loosely roll the widths and lay them straight to acclimatize.
Rolls 4 meters wide should be cut to length and laid horizontally for acclimatization.
Place the roll widthwise in position, cut the joints according to the double cut (overlapping) pattern, overlapping one on top of the other and cutting in the middle.
Fold it in half to be able to apply the adhesive.
Apply glue
We recommend the use of acrylic or bi-component polyurethane adhesives to place and glue the flooring to the floor.
Distribute the adhesive evenly with a spatula on the surface where the flooring will be laid. Make straight movements to avoid excess glue.
Wait a few minutes until the adhesive is dry to the touch.
Laying the floor
Unfold the roll to position the liner in place on the glued surface and press gently with a wooden plank.
Then roll the vinyl floor with a roller to remove air bubbles and finish adhering the liner to the floor. Start from the center outwards.
During drying, it is recommended not to step on the coating if passing over it with vehicles.
Repeat the above steps for the other half of the roll, and for all the rolls to be installed.
Half cane (optional)
If a more professional finish is desired, a half-round baseboard can be placed between the junction of the wall and the floor.
To do this, paint a few centimeters of glue on the wall and on the floor, trying to cover the joint between the two with the adhesive. Place the pieces of half-round baseboard in place and press to ensure adhesion. Wait for it to dry.
Cover with a layer of glue and then cover with the vinyl siding.
For terminations, the flooring is cut in a V-shape with a cutter to form an angle to cover the corners.
Hot welding
In commercial or industrial sites, it is recommended to seal the joints between the rolls with a weld bead, which also gives a better finish and prevents dust and dirt from accumulating on them.
To do this, first bevel the joints with a beveling machine to form an indentation to accommodate the weld bead. Place the weld bead in position and hot weld.
Welding can be done manually or automatically.
Remove the leftovers with a shaving knife.
And now we can enjoy our new environment!
