The Institut Català de Nanociència i Nanotecnologia (known as ICN2), is a non-profit research organization located on the outskirts of Barcelona (exactly at the UAB). Its lines of research focus on the newly discovered physical and chemical properties arising from the behavior of matter at the nanoscale.
ICN2 was looking for a solution for one of its laboratories. Their requirements were that the flooring should be conductive and easy to clean. Our recommendation was our Atlas ESD conductive PVC flooring, a vinyl flooring that comes in a roll of 2m wide and 2mm thick. Atlas ESD conductive flooring allows the evacuation of the electrostatic charges present via its connection to ground , protecting the measuring equipment that is very sensitive to the presence of static electricity.
Our Atlas ESD conductive flooring is homogeneous and compact, which makes it highly resistant to abrasion and foot traffic. The joints, as can be seen in the following image, are thermosealed, i.e. a PVC welding seam is used to join two panels together (see installation of PVC flooring).see installation of PVC flooring).
In addition, Atlas ESD conductive floors are very hygienic, making them an ideal alternative as clean room or operating room floors. Their flexibility allows them to be mounted to the wall (known as the half-round system).
